California Senate Primary Results: Schiff and Garvey Advance
Adam Schiff and Republican Steve Garvey will advance to the general election in the hotly contested California Senate primary.
According to POLITICO Morning Consult, Schiff has a clear lead in the race, with 22% of the vote. Porter has 20%, Lee has 6%, and Khanna has 4%.
Under California's top-two primary system, voters can choose two candidates, regardless of party affiliation, to advance to the general election. The top two vote-getters in the primary election will face off in November.
Schiff is a Democratic Congressman who has represented California's 28th congressional district since 2001. He is a member of the House Intelligence Committee and has been a vocal critic of President Trump.
Garvey is a former Major League Baseball player who played for the Los Angeles Dodgers from 1969 to 1987. He is a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame and was elected to the Los Angeles City Council in 2001.
The general election will be held on November 3, 2024.
