Colorado Rockies Agree to Trade Kris Bryant to the Milwaukee Brewers

Rockies Send Former MVP to Contending Brewers for Prospects

MLB Trade Deadline Moves Shake Up Playoff Race

The Colorado Rockies have agreed to trade third baseman Kris Bryant to the Milwaukee Brewers for a package of prospects, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan. The deal is expected to be announced on Monday. Bryant, a four-time All-Star and the 2016 National League MVP, is in the final year of his contract and is set to become a free agent after the season. The Rockies are rebuilding after finishing with a league-worst 53-109 record in 2022. Colorado dealt away several other key players in recent months, including outfielder Charlie Blackmon and shortstop Jose Iglesias. The Brewers are in contention for the National League Central Division title and are looking to add a bat to their lineup. Milwaukee is currently second in the division, 3.5 games behind the St. Louis Cardinals. Bryant, 30, is a career .289 hitter with 182 home runs and 632 RBIs. He has been a versatile player for the Rockies, playing both third base and the outfield. The prospects heading to Colorado in the deal include right-handed pitcher Connor Sadzeck, infielder Felix Valerio, and outfielder Alex Binelas. Sadzeck, 26, is a former first-round pick of the Cardinals who has pitched in 19 games for the Brewers this season, posting a 4.20 ERA. Valerio, 20, is a shortstop who is considered one of the Brewers' top prospects. Binelas, 19, is an outfielder who was ranked as the Brewers' No. 10 prospect by MLB Pipeline. The Rockies are expected to receive more prospects in the deal, but the full details have not yet been announced.
