Severe Thunderstorm Watches and Warnings for Parts of Southern Manitoba

Environment Canada has issued severe thunderstorm watches and warnings for parts of southern Manitoba, including Winnipeg.

The watches and warnings are in effect for the following areas:

• Winnipeg
• Steinbach
• Morden
• Winkler
• Altona
• Carman
• Morris
• St. Adolphe
• St. Norbert
• Headingley
• Stonewall
• Selkirk
• Gimli
• Arborg
• Teulon
• Winnipeg Beach
• Pinawa
• Lac du Bonnet
• Powerview
• Whitemouth
• Beausejour

The storms are expected to produce heavy rain, hail, and strong winds. Environment Canada is urging people in the affected areas to be prepared for severe weather and to take the following precautions:

• Stay indoors if possible.
• If you must go outside, seek shelter in a sturdy building.
• Stay away from windows.
• Do not drive through flooded areas.
• Be aware of the risk of downed power lines.
