Tommy Edman Injury Report

Tommy Edman Injury: Cardinals' Middle Infield Out Two-to-Four Weeks

Edman Out After Dislocating Shoulder

Tommy Edman, the St. Louis Cardinals second baseman, is expected to miss two to four weeks after dislocating his right shoulder in a game against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday.

Edman was injured while trying to make a diving stop on a ground ball in the first inning of the game. He left the game immediately and was taken to a local hospital for X-rays, which revealed the dislocation.

The Cardinals placed Edman on the 10-day injured list on Sunday and recalled infielder Brendan Donovan from Triple-A Memphis to take his place on the roster.

Edman's Injury a Blow to Cardinals

Edman's injury is a blow to the Cardinals, who are already dealing with injuries to several other key players, including shortstop Paul DeJong and outfielder Tyler O'Neill.

Edman is one of the Cardinals' most versatile players, capable of playing second base, shortstop, and third base. He is also a key part of the Cardinals' offense, batting .268 with five home runs and 24 RBIs this season.

In Edman's absence, the Cardinals are expected to use a combination of Donovan and Edmundo Sosa at second base.

Timeline for Edman's Return

The Cardinals have not released a specific timetable for Edman's return, but the team is hopeful that he will be able to return within two to four weeks.

The Cardinals' next game is on Monday against the Chicago Cubs at Busch Stadium.
