Bears top Texans 21-17 in Hall of Fame Game
With the Bears ahead 21-17 when the game was called, they recorded their fifth Hall of Fame Game victory. The Texans fell to 0-1 in the preseason.
The Bears scored first on a 1-yard touchdown run by running back David Montgomery. The Texans answered back with a 25-yard field goal by kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn. The Bears then took a 14-3 lead on a 10-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Justin Fields to wide receiver Darnell Mooney.
The Texans cut the lead to 14-10 on a 1-yard touchdown run by running back Dameon Pierce. The Bears extended their lead to 21-10 on a 40-yard field goal by kicker Cairo Santos. The Texans then made it a 21-17 game on a 1-yard touchdown run by quarterback Davis Mills.
The game was called with 3:56 remaining in the fourth quarter due to lightning in the area. The Bears improve to 1-0 in the preseason, while the Texans fall to 0-1.
